The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS) respectfully acknowledges that we live, learn, work, and regulate the psychiatric nursing profession on the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, Dëne, and Métis peoples in Kisiskāciwani-sīpiy (Saskatchewan). We pay our respects and affirm the inherent and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous Peoples across this province, specifically honouring treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10.

Kisiskāciwani-sīpiy is a Cree phrase that means “swift-flowing river”. A swift river flows collecting and carrying water, sculpting the land, providing place and nourishment to all of Mother Earth’s inhabitants, similar to how histories, knowledge, and past contributions of Indigenous peoples guide and shape our present day and future. As a regulatory body, CRPNS holds both a responsibility and an opportunity to ensure the profession of psychiatric nursing evolves in ways that honour cultural safety and humility, and advances the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. This includes acknowledging the profound and ongoing impacts of colonization, residential schools, and systemic anti-Indigenous racism on the health and well-being of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
